Christmas Jewellery Sale

We have been busy working on adding new materials to the website and with all the time it requires to take and edit pictures and then upload them, well, we have neglected this blog so badly :D Anyone that knows us is aware that we don't do a lot of talking anyway, so they would not be surprised!

Here are a couple of the great new pieces we just added this week. There are stainless steel beads in both 6mm and 8mm round. No cleaning! They will always stay really nice. They are items #528 and #529. The chains are more in the series of LARGE ladder chain that is suitable for larger beads, or when you want a larger chain look and best of all, they work to make the ladder rosaries where the rosary beads are linked on either end to two parallel chains! That will make sense when you see the pictures included with those items. We now have the larger chain in all the colours: nickel, gilt (gold-tone), silverplate (all of these 3 have a very nice pattern to the chain as well) and then in antique brass as well. The two shown here are the gilt #198 and the antique brass #171. All these new large ladder chains are sold by the metre as well as the full roll. We have used them to make really nice neck chains too :D)

Now to address the title.....In the little spare time I have, I've been learning how to wire wrap and also to weave chain maille. Both of these have been long time desires. They intrigued me so much and I wanted to apply them to rosary making as well. In order to do that, you have to actually learn them fairly well in order to apply them to something they are not often used for :D) Yup, they have been featured in many a rosary I've made in the past few years now and they will continue to be applied whenever possible to make our rosaries different.

During the years I've been practicing these two arts, we have now accumulated quite a few pieces that need good homes. Wow! It has been a year since we last blogged!

Guess that makes it clear that we have been more than a little busy :D)

During the past year we have finally taken literally thousands of pictures to update all the pictures on the website. There are now much better pictures to use for the next catalogue too. That is well underway and, God willing, it will be completed by the end of February 2011. That is only 3 months later than we would like, but it took 1 1/2 years to do the pictures themselves, so it could be worse :*)

It is also time for our annual Winter Sale to warm up souls and fingers. You can see all the great details on the website in the Winter Sale page.

Habit Crucifixes and St. Therese Crucifix

We have been so quiet because we have been so busy :D

You can see just one of the 3 new habit Crucifixes we have added. They are in the 4 inch range and all have such gorgeous Corpuses on them!

The second image is of the St. Therese Crucifix. It is fashioned on the one you often see in her pictures of her holding a Crucifix and roses laying across it. It comes in lead-free antique silver or the gilt (gold-tone).

There are several other pieces we have added in the past few weeks and have quite a few more to add as fast as we can get the time for pictures and loading! Check back on the "New Products" page. You will always get the quick update there in date decending order.

Statue Centres

Woohoo! Rosary centres in the shape of the person! Now who'da thunk it :D)

This one is Our Lady of Grace and comes in both antique silver tone and gilt (gold-tone) as well. We have added 10 of these now. There is The Infant of Prague, Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Pio, St. Jude, and of course St. Joseph.

You can see them together and quickly by simply using the "new products" tab in the menu.

Also last week there was 3 Habit Crucifixes which are beautiful and 2 new Our Father (2 hole connector) medals. These are a rose on one side and the image of the Sacred Heart or Guardian Angel on the other.

See, we have been busy! That is why the silence since September :D)

St. Raphael, St. Maximillian Kolbe, and the Fiat

Woohoo, we have made the climb all the way to the top!!!

For more than 8 years we have been working on the Chaplets section of the website to make available the picture and prayer for some of the more common chaplets. Well, today we can call it.....done? Well, done for now :) The more often used or close to our hearts chaplets are there to be used and duplicated and prayed by anyone that needs the information.

There are certainly many, many more, but these cover more than the basics.

Now that we can call this section complete (until a new favorite or request comes along :) there will be a few minutes freed up to start some of the other information projects planned.

There are tutorials to be written and lots of reference material to be uploaded as well when time permits.

What we are reading....

We have been blessed by a dear friend. She had let us know a few months ago about the Benedictine daily meditations on the "Rule". This rotates through the rule 3 times per year, so you can catch it later if you are too swamped to read it.

Best of all.....the commentary that is included by Father Jerome OSB! These are mini homilies that do a fantastic job of laying out for today how the Rule of St. Benedict applies. Dear St. Benedict is still very pertinent to us!

Mmmm, roooomy

Well, the website is officially moved and the security restored and most things have been tested. The email even had to be overhauled due to the move! What a job :o{

Admittedly it wasn't as bad as moving everything in your home because this is all digital, but incredible hurdles and heavy mind lifting to learn and do all these intricate things :) God willing, it won't need to be moved again!

If you experienced error messages about security recently it was due to the move. It takes time for all the servers in the world to catch up to the new security certificate etc., but that is all done now.

Any emails sent during the last week of August 2009 were also lost because of the email being moved, so we sincerely apologize if we haven't answered your question, but in fact we have been unable to receive your email.

God bless you all for bearing with us during the website move. All things considered, it went well. Could be all the things we could offer up like sleep and worry during that time :)

Now we are looking forward to a beautiful fall and month of Our Lady's Rosary in October. God bless and keep you and all your loved ones.

New website and new look :D)

It has been longer than we thought since our last blog! We just realized that was back in April, 2009. Wow!

By the look of the new website, you will see where we have been and what we have been doing too :) The site is now functioning better than our old one and has more bells and whistles for you. Almost every piece of the old information is back, there is only one more page to write to explain the materials used to make these products and that will be researched and re-written this year as time permits. The chaplet pages are complete except for about 5 more chaplets we would like to get on for a full selection of all the basic chaplets and their prayers. The shipping module is working much better than the last site and BONUS....the discount module is installed and has been working very well for a few months now. There are only a couple of items where the discount must be given manually after payment and then refunded!

You will see on the home page that we have upgraded and added security to the site as well and so when you enter any information, it will be protected between your computer and the web and then back to us. Your order and personal information is protected now and not viewable by others. A further way to help you in these rather trying times.

In the coming weeks, an RSS feed and Twitter are both in the list for us to figure out and add as well so that you can subscribe and get updates whenever we add anything new. That will be a help for all of us with the amount of new products each year :D)

Well, better get at it and make more of these promised improvements!

NEW website!

The new website is nearly complete! In early March 2009 we started having some trouble with our last site but it was just an occasional glitch. After hunting high and low through the coding, we could not find the problem. By the middle of March it took a permanent vacation :) Not what you want a website to do, but God's Will be done. Blessed be God! Don't worry about any information you had in there, as it was so secure that we could not access it so no one else could either. It has since been completely deleted and so is safe.

After many sleepless nights and worry and work and learning and more learning and coding and frustration, the newest version of www.avemariascircle.com is almost done and we are thrilled with God's will now! He was right all along. Of course :)

The new cart has all the materials that are listed in the latest catalogue loaded, plus the sale items are going in now as well. Most of the resource pages have been reinstalled and configured too.

At this point, by the end of April 2009 all the materials will be in and with the help of The Holy Famiy, (who else could help us with all this work and program coding :?) the discount part of the program will be installed as well. That is a new thing as the old site could not accommodate all the products and options we had with a discount calculator.

We hope and pray that you will like the new website format! Please let us know if you find any problems as they are bound to crop up and can only be addressed if we are told of them.

American lead law for children

In sensitivity to our American clients, we have updated the Ave Maria's Circle website to include more direct information in regards to lead in our products. Lead is bad for all of us, but especially for children under 15. Many rosaries are made for children, so this is to aid in your choice of materials available for rosary making.

As Canada and Europe have long been working on addressing this, it has simply been "part of life". So, to make matters clearer we have noted on almost every product we offer if it is lead free or not. Those that we do not know we have stated so, but a very few are left blank while we sort out what and where they are made. You will need to click on the item to get the full information and additional pictures.

There is also a new section included in the menu called "Product Information". This is simply a section that has more complete information for some of the terms and language used. As everyone enters rosary making with little background, it is helpful to have somewhere to go to learn terminology! We all had to learn it somewhere :) so hopefully this will help.

As more language explanations are needed they will certainly be added. If you have items you would like included, drop us a line at info@avemariascircle.com and we will do our best to help.

New Colour Catalogue is done!

The new catalogue is now complete! Full colour pictures and a full 55 pages now. Quite an upgrade from the photocopied 32 pages last year! It is professionally printed and we think they did a fantastic job with the quality of the product they had to work with from us :D)

As always, the website is the most up-to-date and shows any specials or closeouts, but with the volume of products carried, the catalogue is so helpful to have at home as well.

One of the specials are a few of the 1/2 inch colour centres available at a reduced rate. These are being discontinued to allow more variety in the larger and more colourful versions. Catch them while you can!

New Catalogue

Woo hoo! The new catalogue for 2009 is now in progress!

Surprisingly we have come to realize that we have been at this for a full 10 years at the end of 2008. Praise God and all thanks to The Holy Family for desiring us to work for them! We are so very amazed and humbled and thrilled.

To make the next catalogue even better, there are going to be more price breaks to help you, and even some more prices falling as we obtain better costs for the materials. Naturally new items as well :D It should be clearer, in COLOUR, and will certainly need more pages to make that happen too!!

As always, the new year starts at the beginning of the Catholic year, so the first Sunday of Advent, November 30th, 2008 is when this should be ready. At approximately 3-4 hours per page, it is a long haul to prepare this around working hours.

What we did on our summer vacation :D

Well our summer holidays have come and gone and already we miss them :)

It was the best weather of the summer here in Ontario, Canada during the last two weeks of August and we took full advantage of it. The house and yard have been so sorely neglected for the past few years while we have dedicated most all of our time to Ave Maria's Circle and to making and shipping mission rosaries to the second and third world countries.

So, this year we happily spent the mornings doing yard work and then afternoons gallivanting. Lots of fun sight-seeing like tourists in our local area which we don't often do, but with gas prices as they are, this was actually a great diversion. Spending time with family and honing new skills with wire to add beauty to our finished rosaries for sale took the balance of the free time.

Well, it is time for us to knuckle down and take care of our dear clients and treasured friends. May God reward you for your great kindness.

Richard and I have a HUGE devotion to Papa Joseph as well as our dear Mother. Naturally, this leads to the devotion and dedication of this work (rosary making and the sale of rosary making parts and supplies) to The Holy Family.

As a way to further the tender care of St. Joseph, we are highlighting a precious group that we are members of. It is called "The Pious Union of St. Joseph for the Suffering and Dying". The picture above is a painting by Fr. Germano of the Pious Union who was based at the Grass Lake, Michigan shrine for a few years.

Holy Angels Chaplet

LARGE Wooden Beads!

Terrific new 10mm x 7mm oval wooden beads that are ridged across the length. They come in black, light brown and mahogany. Light and easier on arthritic hands. They will also work great on string for a sturdy rosary.

Also new this week are full colour centres for the Holy Ghost and the Infant of Prague. If that wasn't enough, there are now Flower Turquoise beads too!

St. Jude the Apostle chaplet

For those "hopeless causes" the Saint commonly called up on is dear St. Jude. As one of the 12 apostles and in fact a cousin to Jesus, he has helped many a soul over all these years!

St. Philomena, Wonder Worker

Ahhhh, dear St. Philomena. The precious 13 year old girl that suffered so much brutality for love of God. Her sacrifice has been the help of many a Catholic since. She is called "Powerful with God", again because of her generous gift of self. She can be invoked for help with just about anything! This is a little of the progression of wire work around here. We are trying to learn some new techniques in order to bring them to our rosary making. While rosaries must be sturdy and functional, they should also be pieces that the owner will enjoy seeing and owning. That is something we are trying out on our local clients.

Recently we have also been learning Chain Maille patterns that have gone into a few rosaries and chaplets already! With the intricate wire work and wire wrapping, God willing these too will embellish rosaries to honour Our Lady.

St, Peregrine, The Cancer and HIV/AIDS Saint

The chaplet in honour of St. Peregrine is complete! With the picture and recitation and even a short history of this dear Saint. He is invoked for Cancer and also for HIV/AIDS suffers.

Papa Joseph

The Chaplet of St. Joseph is now up on the website!

Due to Holy Week, Papa Joseph's feast day had to be moved to last Saturday for this year, but traditionally it would be today, March 19th. The picture of the chaplet is now available along with the method of recitation and an extra prayer to St. Joseph for those so inclined :>)

Richard and I have such great devotion to our dear St. Joseph, so it was very hard not to include an entire e-book full of prayers :)))

While researching this chaplet several years ago, we found two versions, one for 5 sets of 5 beads and another to utilize your regular Dominican rosary. Both sets of information have been added for you.

These are just a sample of the 8 new full colour picture centres added today. It is 8 pictures but each comes in either a nickel frame or a gilt (gold-tone) frame for a total of 16 new options. As always, you can mix and match in the series and frame colour and receive 10% off for 10 or more pieces!

Ash Wednesday and Our Lady of Sorrows

The pictures, instructions and meditations are available now for the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary (7 Sorrows) chaplet. Perfect timing for Lent and who better to guide us through the Lenten season to better know and love Her Son!

For the days when you can't do a full chaplet, or to honour Our Lady each day of the year, the abbreviated version has also been added for you. It takes less than 10 minutes and helps to ground you daily in what really matters.

The meditations provided are interchangeable for either version and this has given the opportunity to detail 3 beautiful sets of meditations from which to choose for this precious chaplet.

New Semi-Precious Beads!

Take a peek at the new semi-precious beads added for rosary making :D) Nothing beats the beautiful beads God makes and now there are more of them available at reasonable prices to make rosaries that will be cherished for generations.

As semi-precious stones, the colour doesn't fade or peel, plus they have a smoothness and feel that nothing else has ever been able to duplicate.

The focus here is on 6mm round beads for best weight, size and price. Recently added are Labradorite, a soft, moss green colour with both light and dark patches some containing quartz like sparkle for good measure. When turned the light reflects back off the inside plains to show blue, violet, green or yellow.

Next is Picture Jasper in warm carmel colours with dark banding to create abstract pictures.

Plus Snowflake Jasper. These have a calm black background with grey snowflake designs.

There are more semi-precious beads planned in the coming months. Stay tuned, and happy beading.

Cool Tools

Ahhhh comfort tools!

We have added this week new Ergonomic handled rosary making tools. There are the smooth chain nose and flat nose pliers for jump rings and small detail work, and more importantly, smooth round nose pliers complete with cutter for rosary making.

Along with these, the split ring pliers have come down in price as well as the masters German rosary pliers with outside cutters.

We have been using the ergonomic handled pliers for a few months and have found them very helpful for reducing the pain and stress on hands, wrists and arms.

New Pearls!

2 New colours of glass pearl beads have been added!

They are a silver grey in 6mm round and 8mm round, plus a soft golden tone, also in 6mm round and 8mm round.

Do you see a pattern :) We thought they would be a good idea for those that need a special bead for a 25th or 50th anniversary or Jubilee rosary or chaplet. They would also make a very nice gift as a string of pearls to hold a cherished Crucifix or medal.

These and all the other pearls (creamrose, light pink, light blue, lilac and black in both 6mm and 8mm sizes) make very attractive pieces and are so much cheaper than the real thing and still durable because of the solid glass base.

Stations of the Cross Chaplet, or Via Crucix

The Stations of the Cross or Via Crucix chaplet instructions are now complete!

You can obtain these Stations sets in antique silver statues (#224), or in the gilt (gold-tone) as shown (#257), or in antique silver with colour pictures (#223). There is also a small booklet to accompany the set if you would like to offer that (#VCBK). It comes with colour pictures and contains English, Spanish, and Italian in the one booklet!

The Stations of the Cross chaplet can be made in any bead but is featured here in carved olive wood.

This is the first Chaplet we are featuring in the "News" blog, but hope to complete all the chaplets we have on hand during the 2008 year, so please stay posted!
